Pune, March 8, 2005 - UBICS, Inc. the Pittsburgh-based IT Services Division
of The USD 2 Billion UB Group, today announced an aggressive plan for making
India a Strategic Center for its Global initiatives. UBICS enjoys global reputation
for its various IT Products, IT Services and IT Solutions. As part of the initiative,
the Company will invest USD 1 Million primarily on R&D during the first year of
its operation in the country (2005-06).
In India, UBICS will operate through its state-of-the-art technology centers in
Pune, Bangalore and New Delhi. The first batch of recruitment will see an addition
of over 300 professionals to support local practices and global activities in India.
The Pune center coming up at Baner will become operational by May 2005 and house
over 200 personnel.
In his statement, Dr. Vijay Mallya, Chairman and CEO of UBICS and Chairman of The
UB Group, said, “We are very excited with the new thrust on India and making
it a strategic hub for our global initiatives. UBICS is a successful US company
and its parentage with the UB group is poised to make it an entrenched player in
the Indian IT space.” Dr. Mallya further added that to execute this critical strategy
for UBICS, Sunil Patil, President – Global Solutions, UBICS, Inc. an IT veteran
with 2 decades of experience mostly in USA, would relocate to India.
As part of the aggressive strategy, UBICS expects a revenue growth of 150% over
the next 4 years. Translated into figures, this will amount to an impressive USD
75 Million, of which 50% will be contributed by the Company’s Indian operations.
Currently, the US market accounts for the Company’s majority earnings.
Reiterating UBICS' vision for India, Mr. Sunil Patil, President– Global Solutions,
said, “Our global team views the Indian operations very strategically. UBICS plans
to bring Best Practices to the Indian IT industry through its Products and Consulting
Division. Moreover, our investment in R&D here will enable us to innovate and deliver
the best to our valued customers”.
The company is in the process of recruiting the first batch of employees that includes
senior level positions. “People are our biggest assets. We are building our team
here that will consist of the finest professionals to spearhead our operations in
India.”, added Mr. Patil.
The development centers in India will serve as R&D hub for UBICS’ worldwide operations.
As part of the aggressive growth plans, UBICS will also market its premium IT products
in India. The initial product offerings would include ‘Ventive’ and 'SeeItFirst’.
The Company’s innovative recruitment and resourcing automation product 'Ventive'
- built under an ISV agreement with Microsoft, facilitates talent acquisition,
development and management. 'SeeItFirst' is a patented Interactive Streaming
Video technology that helps organizations deploy video in employee communication,
remote training and education, both on demand (archived) as well as real time.
In addition to this, the Company will also bring its proven Consulting model to
Indian IT companies. “We accept assignments in functional areas where we genuinely
possess relevant experience to serve the needs of our client. We will endeavor to
translate our expertise, competence and rich global experience to offer unique consulting
services to our clients,” said Mr. Patil. Most importantly, UBICS will cater to
